Lesson 4 of 7

Calculate quantities from a model

Now that the board has been filled in, we will check the quantities calculated by our external partner.

Let’s duplicate the “quantity” column and rename it.

We will recalculate the value by opening the féderated in the 3D viewer.

Let’s combine filters to isolate the objects to quantify.

First we isolate the structural objects, then the walls, and finally two specific types.

The menu at the bottom allows us to measure the quantities on the geometry.

The measurement tool allows us to count objects, calculate lengths, surface areas, volumes, or even mass of materials.

Let’s take a visual example: the surface tool. By clicking on the facet of the objects, we get the corresponding cumulative net surface area.

By holding SHIFT, we get the gross surface area which is actually the surface area of the bounding box.

Any facet can be selected, what makes Kabandy very flexible.

Of course, with many elements, it is crucial to auto-select quantities.

The magical button allows us to select a predefined selection of quantities automatically.

By changing the units, we get the volume in two clics.

The quantities are updated in real time according to the visibility of the objects.

We come back to the board to save the viewpoint and the quantity.

The next quantity is created by drag-and-dropping the viewpoint from the first cell to the second one.

We repeat here the operation for the slabs.

After some operations we have our quantities recalculated.

Let’s add a status to highlight the discrepancy between our results and the ones from our external partner.

In the next video we will see how to generate a visual report to communicate the results.
