Lesson 3 of 7
In Progress

Create a board from Excel

In the previous video we created a new board from scratch.

In this new video we will see an alternative way to quickly populate the board.

We will create a new board via a direct import of a cost structure in Excel.

To enable Kabandy to correctly import the Excel file we must follow some slight formatting rules.

Firstly the first column includes the codification.

The more logical the coding, the more correctly Kabandy will interpret the structure.

Secondly the second column includes the description of the items.

Thirdly the first row includes the header of the columns.

Fourthly the second row includes text, quantity or currency, which are the type of columns used in Kabandy.

The number and order of columns and items is free.

Finally the Excel file cannot contain merged cells and has only one spreadsheet.

Once the Excel file is formatted we can create a new board.

To create the new board we select the Cost estimating template and upload our Excel file.

The new board is being generated.

When the board is available we double check that the import went correct.

In the next video we will see how to calculate quantities from the model.
